Who measures the lap

Who are we?

Painted Circuit is one of the Painted studios, run by PaintedApp, LLC in Portland, Oregon.

We're not a racing team and we don't claim to have driven the circuits we draw. We're the people who measure the lap and print it properly, the same way our sister studio Painted Course measures every hole of a golf course.

Why the length?

Because an outline without its length is a logo.

Outline posters of famous circuits are everywhere, and none of them tells you anything you could check. We print the length we measured beside the length the circuit publishes, and your own time beside both, so the sheet is a record of your lap and not a souvenir of somebody else's brand.

What can't we do?

We can't measure what isn't mapped, and we can't see small crests.

Our length runs along the centreline OpenStreetMap's volunteers drew, so a circuit changed since it was mapped prints as it was mapped until someone updates it. The heights come from public tiles about 4 m to a pixel.
